DiSC is a behavior assessment tool which centers on four different behavioral traits: dominance, influence, steadiness, and consciousness. This non-judgmental tool provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and adapt their behaviors with others - within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships.
The DiSC Model of Behavior was first proposed by William Moulton Marston, a physiological psychologist with a Ph.D. from Harvard. His 1928 book, Emotions of Normal People, explains his theory on how normal human emotions lead to behavioral differences among groups of people and how a person's behavior might change over time. However, Dr. Marston did not create the DiSC instrument from his theory, but others did.
The latest DiSC products are used worldwide in thousands of organizations of all sizes to help their teams: • Increase self-knowledge by learning how to respond to conflict • Improve working relationships by recognizing the communication needs of team members • Facilitate better teamwork and minimizing team conflict • Develop stronger sales skills by identifying and responding to customer styles • Manage more effectively by understanding the dispositions and priorities of employees and team members • Become more self-knowledgeable, well-rounded and effective leaders
